The Golden Gai, or Memory Lane is known for being a top tourist attraction in Tokyo. Golden Gai is home to Japan’s tiniest bars with some of them only able to hold six people at a time. The bars sometimes have several floors so if the first floor looks full, there may be space above them for you to sit. Golden Gai consists of several narrow alleys. The bars in Golden Gai offer interesting cuisine that you won’t find anywhere else and a once in a lifetime experience to dine at the world’s tiniest bars.
Tokyo National Museum
The Tokyo National Museum is an absolute must-see when visiting Tokyo. If you or anyone in your party is a history buff, they will have a field day in the Tokyo National Museum. The museum holds over one hundred sixteen thousand pieces of art for you to experience. Samurai armor, swords, and history are on display and one of the more popular displays within the museum. The museum costs about six American dollars and is open from 9:30 to 5 pm every day.
Japan’s oldest religious site is one that millions of people each year come to visit. The Temple is dedicated to the Buddhist god Asakusa Kannon. Visitors from around the world including practicing Buddhists come to visit the temple in hopes of having the powers of Asakusa Kannon’s enlightenment bestowed upon them. The temple was erected in 628 AD but has undergone several reconstructions due to damage in past wars. Along the way outside of the temple is a small shopping area that tourists can visit. The only major problem when visiting the Sensoji Temple is that it becomes very crowded with the activity going on within and around the temple. So make sure you find a good time of year to visit to take in all that you can at the Sensoji Temple.
